Bumble bee
My new favourite trio of colours. Until the next favourite, that is.
The yellow background makes me smile, and I like how the black outline and stripes provide a striking contrast. I can’t help but think of friendly bumble bees, despite decidedly not being a place they would hang out.
I’m enjoying watching a pattern unfold by using the one shape, and simply changing its scale. I generally start the sketch feeling a bit dubious about my choices, and I warm as I go, until I scold myself at the end when I realise I should’ve trusted my belly.
The ivory is exactly the same colour and consistency as the liquid paper I used at school. I was right back in chemistry. No thank you.
