A beautiful mess

How do you get your ideas/thoughts out of your head? Do you say them aloud, or scrawl them on paper, or punch them out on a keyboard?

My go-to is pen and paper, but I’ll take anything that’s at hand. I start to feel an urgency, a rising panic, that they’re going to disappear if I don’t yank them out fast enough.

Like this morning. What started off as an orderly sushi train of ideas turned into a furious flinging of plates. Half of the ideas landed, and the others ended up in unusable pieces on the floor.

Gah, I hate frustration. So much noise in my way.

My husband made me a Very Nice Sandwich for lunch, chased by a(nother) filter coffee. This, along with a change of scenery (from studio to dining room, some eight slippered paces), helped quieten the noise.

I’m back in the studio, slowly observing the carnage. It is a beautiful mess.

I also know it will all come together in the end. And if it doesn’t? Then it isn’t the end.
